Irene Mandl is the head of the Employment unit at Eurofound, the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working conditions. As part of her work, Mandl mainly concentrates on researching labour market developments including new forms of work and employment, digitalisation, restructuring and the related political approaches. Other areas of her work concern interfaces between employment and entrepreneurship: creation of jobs, practices in the workplace, SMEs, start-ups and internationalisation.
Irene Mandl studied international business administration (master’s degree) at the University of Vienna as well as business and law (second master’s degree) at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Before she joined Eurofound, she worked in Austria carrying out policy oriented socioeconomic research in the areas of employment and the labour market as well as entrepreneurship and industry analysis.
